Environmentally friendly plate freezer commissioned.
Groundbreaking developments by Lago's refrigeration team have lead to the commissioning of an environmentally friendly plate freezing operation.
This equipment optimises a heat exchange system to transfer latent heat away from product, thereby reducing its freezing time. A non-toxic, odourless brine circulates through the plates and returns to chiller vessels outside of the freezing enclosure, and is designed to operate harmoniously with our freon based refrigeration system.
The perils of dealing with ammonia gas are eliminated, while providing the customer with a superior presentation of their product once frozen.
New Cold Store constructed
Our new cold store facility has been designed to accommodate over 7000 pallets and incorporates the latest Vesda Technology in Fire Protection Systems.
The cold store has been built on concrete driven piles that were required to go to a depth of 30 metres to provide a sound foundation for building which also features a pre-cast concrete flooring system.
The project design and construction team from Paynter Dixon has used the technique to create an airspace to eliminate the problems of ground frost heave and retain the full load bearing requirements for the operation of the cold store.
The building has been fitted out with a high level Dexion racking system, providing for seven levels and greater storage capacity.
On arrival each pallet is tagged with a unique bar-coded label that allows for individualized tracking of the goods in a paperless warehouse operation.
The angled loading docks have been installed to reduce the external pavement requirements and facilitate easier access for trucks.
The Paynter Dixon team has constructed the previous cold store facilities that have been required by Lago Colds Stores and Distribution, an association stretching back more than 20 years.
